About Kate Davies

Kate Davies studied graphic design, fine art and photography at Salisbury College of Art and launched straight into a job as designer for a London marketing agency. Keen to get as much industry experience as possible before starting her own business, she then became designer and editor on a newspaper; the in-house designer at Thorpe Park when it first opened; also working for print company; packaging; exhibition; marketing and in advertising.

With this wealth of experience reflected in her portfolio, Kate started working for herself. Several decades later she still retains some of her original clients who trust her creativity and professional outcomes will always excel their brief.

As Kate is always bouncing with so many ideas, she decided to share some of them with students so she did the PTTLS teaching course and went on enjoy teaching Graphic Design at Cambridge School of Art; Fine Art & Digital Art at Northampton College; Design and Fine Art at Milton Keynes College and Commercial & Creative Photography at Northampton University.

Over the years, Kate became increasingly aware of the stress suffered by staff in the workplace. She wanted to reduce the pain of negativity and lack of confidence being shown as businesses stopped caring for their employees in direct proportion to money saving. So she now runs Art & Soul Day Retreats in a beautiful 17th century manor house in Bedfordshire where gentle breathing yoga is mixed with a glass of bubbly, good food, good company and art.

She wants people to find themselves again. So often she hears guests say they haven't done art since school because they were told they were no good. With some fun ways of approaching and experimenting with fun techniques, all of sudden everyone is completely absorbed in observing and drawing with fabulous results!

Over the past ten years Kate and her illustrator brother Jonny Boatfield have run popular Big Draw Arts Workshops where up to 500 people attend over the day.

When two buildings in her home town burnt down, she initiated a painting party involving the townspeople to paint a 16metre mural on the hoardings surrounding the destroyed buildings to help make the town look more attractive.

Whether establishing a new company logo and corporate literature or evolving existing branding that stands the test of time - Kate Davies has every aspect covered and loves working closely with clients to discover what they would like to achieve and to help them make it happen!
